The Guarani attacking midfielder arrives with a one-year contract to the Herons

On Tuesday, April 23 (before the close of the MLS transfer window) Inter Miami announced a new signing in the middle of the MLS Cup, in which they are leading the Eastern Conference.

He is Paraguayan attacking midfielder Matias Rojas, who arrives from Brazilian side Corinthians after obtaining free agent status following a not very encouraging spell with the club, where he spent less than a year, after adding good numbers to his resume with Racing de Avellaneda, the team of his greatest successes and where he was coached by Fernando Gago, current coach of Chivas in Mexico.

The 28-year-old, who made his professional debut with Paraguay's Cerro Porteno and is an undisputed international with the national team, arrives at Lionel Messi and company's team with an initial contract for this season, with an option for a one- or two-year extension depending on his performance.

Rojas will join his compatriot Diego Gomez, who will be out for four to six weeks due to injury, but both are expected to make it safely to the Copa America with the national team coached by Daniel Garnero.

Chris Henderson, sporting director of the Herons said in an official statement: «We are delighted to sign attacking midfielder Matias Rojas. He is a skilled and experienced player at both club and international level whose versatility we believe will be an asset to the team.

»We believe this addition helps strengthen our team as we aim to compete for titles after a strong start to the MLS season," concluded Henderson.
