Darwin Nunez drops out as Liverpool make three changes to team for Atalanta

Jurgen Klopp has tasked Cody Gakpo with helping fire Liverpool to a remarkable Europa League quarter-final comeback this evening.

Gakpo will lead the attack with Darwin Nunez benched as the Reds look to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Atalanta in the return match here in Bergamo.

The Dutchman is one of three changes made by Klopp as he rotates his resources with his team continuing their busy end to the campaign.

Trent Alexander-Arnold returns at right-back for his first start since mid-February having come off the bench in the weekend Premier League defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

And Dominik Szoboszlai will form part of midfield alongside Curtis Jones, with Alexis Mac Allister retreating once again to the number six role.

Alisson Becker continues in goal for only his second Europa League appearance this season, with Andy Robertson at left-back and Ibrahima Konate partnering skipper Virgil van Dijk at centre-back.

Meanwhile, Gakpo is joined in the forward line by Mohamed Salah on the right flank and Luis Diaz on the left.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.

Subs: Kelleher, Adrian, Gomez, Endo, Nunez, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Clark, Danns, Quansah.
